The auto leaf spring crossbow?
Don't have on built right now, its just my go to if I need something like that during shtf
Built my first one in woodshop in HS
Use an old .22 wood stock, cut it off flush about 2" from the front end
use a piece of 3/8 aluminum channel for the rails, (pieces of an aluminum window screen frame work) bed it where the barrel was so its level and you have a rail sticking up about 1/8" over the wood for the run down
drill a 1/4" hole in the center of the leaf spring and attach it to the stock with 1/4" lag bolt (if you were where you didn't have ability to drill the spring you can bend a piece of metal strap across the front of it and attached to top and bottom and adjust the rail height so the bolt goes over
use 1/16" wire rope, or braid a few strands of paracord. Measure it so the center of it is about 1/3 of the way down the stock and the ends drape 3" over the ends of the spring about 1" in
make a small loop on each end of the wire/rope using cable clamps if using wire
make a small "V" notch 1" from each end of the spring and loop the wire in them.
use the trigger assembly from the .22, the hammer will protrude about a 1/2" above the rails which holds the wire rope and serves as a release
you can stand on the spring with a foot either side and cock upto 100#, I never had any trouble cocking, pull the wire up untill it catches on the hammer/trigger assembly
the bolts don't need to be notched, in fact they work better flat, you can make fletching from duct tape
I have used welding rod as a bolt and it will go through 1/2 plywood from 30 yards with no trouble.
its easy to make, but the weight is a problem
however it is excellent as a booby trap rigged to a trip wire, it will penetrate body armour
I have made several over the years
just don't have one right now.
