Working on my trailer I managed to smash my index finger between a steel beam and a 24. Never seen a finger explode like mine did. Didn't do surgery on it yet do to swelling, and the resident tore so much of the good tissue around the wound up that it was not able to be closed fully. Some good pain meds later, and a suprise weekend off from the guard do to my exploding finger and I'm doing alright. Just remeber folks, prevention over fixing is so much easier.

hope its not your trigger finger
i do know what you mean by "exploding" finger
hit my thumb 3 times in a row trying to drive a wire staple through some grass at the bottom of a railroad tie fence post
split the skin on both sides like an over ripe tomato
pray you get better soon

There's just something about this forum and fingers. In my carpenter learning experiences I've shot two of my fingers with nail gun (yeah I did it again on my last shed build :-(). Woody is missing a ring finger (but got a wood(y)en replacement in his Christmas package) and now kutkota. It's a trend, not a good one, but a trend).
Fingers come in handy. Pun intended.
Hope you heal alright there Kut.

Man some of you guys are dangerous with tools. Please take safety lessons before handling chainsaws. Those things kick back. Missing fingers is one thing, missing an other protuberance might have you singing really high notes.

Be sure you get a good doctor to repair. It's a good reminder to take home safety seriously. Prayers for it to heal right.

Hey! That was two different shed projects. Lol. One injury per isn't too bad for a novice.

Take great care. You DO NOT WANT an infection in the hand. Calls for serious DR. Care. First 24 hrs are critical.
