Char Cloth www.wikihow.com/Make-Char-ClothI have a large roll of jute twine I bought at Tractor Supply.. think hay baling 'rope'. It's not that expensive and as CWI said it has lots of uses. When I was a Boy Scout we used it to twist into rope and build signal towers from cut trees.

I don't think bailing twine and jute is the same thing, jute is not as strong as bailing twine. Not sure if it takes a spark as well as jute twine but i'm going to find out. Some stores have stopped using bailing twine and in it's place they are using plastic type cordage, there goes the freebies.

it isn't the same at all.. but it has similar qualities and I thought that might make a good comparison. I also doubt if it will catch fire as easily due to its composition. And no they seldom use it anymore for baling hay
