The rule around here is you see a hog you kill it if possible... No locals care about "trespassing/hunting laws " with hogs long as you ain't tearing stuff up ...

My neighbor told me the other day he has three boars on his trail cam. And he also said another neighbor has a black bear momma and two cubs about a mile from me. We will shoot any hogs we see here

We are going to have to rendezvous camp down in east Texas. That's some serious hog killing.

We are going to have to rendezvous camp down in east Texas. That's some serious hog killing. Friday, my neighbor drove up on a herd of about 25-30 of them... He is not sure how many he hit but he unloaded on em with a 22 mag at about 50 yards... We had these two in one of our traps though this morning.... They are getting thick as fleas on a hound around here again...

What is the best time of year to hunt pigs down there? Depends on your intent.... We seldom go "hog hunting" because we are always looking to kill any that we see... If you want to trap them though I would suggest mid winter to early spring when they are having to look the hardest for food.... That is also when they are the cleanest if you intend to eat them ... Less ticks and mites after a few good hard freezes... If you just want to go shoot/cut some.. The most fun is to hook up with someone that has several good hog dogs and access to hunting clubs/ open land for that purpose and that is usually done after deer season and up until a few weeks before bow season starts.... We have no closed season on hogs
