If it is related to a super fund site, you've got more than a little bit of old fertilizer to deal with. Dang, this just keeps getting worse. I am already looking for another place to live. The only good thing I can think of is that this is teaching my daughter to conserve water. I tried to teach her that, but she just didn't get it until I made her carry her own water. I told her we are going to shower like we would if we were camping. One other question, what about washing clothes, do I need to take them somewhere else? Could these chemicals have built up in our clothes?

Even more scary to me is this for toxaphene. Apparently it is an endocrine disruptor meaning it messes with the reproductive system. Here is a general link but remember all these agencies talk in "alphabet soup" - took me years to learn it. www.pesticideinfo.org/Detail_Chemical.jsp?Rec_Id=PC34603#Toxicityand another gis.dep.wv.gov/tri/cheminfo/csfs282.txtCan we talk tomorrow by phone and I can cal EPA for you and talk their language and ask questions? I cannot represent you but I sure can ask for more info. This is just unconscionable that they have done this without giving you the site Fact Sheets and further information on the site. In all my years practicing I have never seen this happen at any remedial or removal site without FIRST public meeings and mailings to give info to the affected residents. I have been a part of these types of public meetings many times and for goodness sakes, the goal is to calm everyone not scare the *#%& out of them. If you would like me to call, email me and send your phone number. I have internet at last at our new place.

I will be taking my clothes to the laundry mat and we are not using the water for anything, except for the toilet. I have our camp shower up in our tub, and I am refilling the water jugs and shower from work, which is on city water. I am so thankful for this information.

I have been on the phone most of the morning with the EPA guy and Solargeek, I am so thankful to have people that are helping me and for all the people on this site for the info. and the ideas that have helped me in my research. BIG GIANT CYBER HUGS TO SOLARGEEK. You have been such a blessing to help out and thank you for stepping up like you did. They will be coming out in about 2 weeks to talk to some more people and try to get other peoples permission to test and will be doing the test in about a month. They seem to be moving pretty quick on this.(to be a government agency) THANKS AGAIN

I just got a call from the EPA guy again, and he said that he will be out on July 23 and 24 to test the water. FINALLY!!!! I know it hasn't been that long considering this is a governement agency, but I am tired of carrying water home!!! When I asked him about the filter that would be installed (if we need one) He said it was an Organo Chlorine Filter and the initial cost was about $4,000. and that they would provide it and the filter. After it was installed they would test the water and make sure it was doing it's job. Then they would come back out in a year and replace the filter, but that after that we were on our own to buy the replacement filters which cost around $800 each He said that compared to a monthly water bill it was about the same cost. This might be true, I don't know I have never had a water bill in my life! I am so ready for this to be over. According to the pollution report ( and it was a loooong report) the contamination is 8 ft below top soil.

The sample was pulled Monday (the 23rd) and he said that it will be about 6 weeks before the results are back. I am tired of carrying water home, but it could have been worse. At least I have access to clean water and am able to get as much as I need. I am greatful for that. I just hope the sample comes back clean. I wasn't there when the EPA guy took the sample but my husband was and when he asked my husband if he had any questions my husband said "No sir, I sure don't, my wife has told me more than I ever wanted to know about water pollution" I guess I really have been driving him crazy
