Any of you guys consider carrying one of these in your bag? Picked one up last night for $2 at a little store down in Farmington, MO. Been thinking about getting one and then there it was. Going in my GoGo bag. Figure its cheap, light and handy. Could come to value gigging frogs or fish and would save time and energy not having to fashion one from scratch out of sticks. Maybe a few other uses to it as well like roasting hot dogs (lol). www.cabelas.com/product/FROG-GIG/1813152.utsOh yeah, they had .22 ammo on hand so I bought two boxes. $10 per 100 rds but hey, they had at least had some and its the kind my guns like.

I have one the same size that you bought, and I also have a humongous one and what the hell was I thinking when I bought it; they don't have frogs big enough for this thing but it does make a formidable weapon if you put it on a stick and a heck of a harpoon for fish, it was cheap, and makes a nice toy, I take both to Virginia with me.

I have used those to catch everything from a small gator to a coon and yes a few frogs and snakes as well.... Club in one hand and that rascal on a stout pole is a fairly effective way to capture small game....

I have an old timer which I doubt they still sell. It's the type that snaps closed around the frog or fish or whatever else is in reach. Kinda like steel teeth which bite into the flesh. I lucked out for mine, someone gave it to me about ten years ago, he was emptying his garage. I'm not lugging that thing around.

How many of you still own the old hunting lights worn on the head and worked with a six volt battery. This is the one I have which belonged to my sweetheart. A few months ago someone had a call out looking for these paying top dollar but I have no intention of parting with it. We called them "Bull Eyes". Lets go back one more level just add water.... LoL! There's a good reason we have the nickname "Sportsman's Paradise". I just think it's funny I'm the female with the vintage hunting gadgets.

Cajun I have two of those headlites still in use. Ones on a fish shooting bow and the other is my crawdad gigging lite. The gigs I have a variety of sizes from old bait shop stock, then my crawfish gigs are all home made stainless three prongs. I used to be quite a little gigger. LoL

Have several carbide lamps and a case of calcium carbide . . . you know, just in case. They're (carbide lamps) hard to come by now days and expensive to boot.

I never heard of carbide lamps so I looked them up. Those seem to be priceless. Hang on to them as they will keep giving light way after my batteries die on me.
