No matter the type of natural disaster to hit, it's so sad looking at the pictures and seeing just how bad lives can be changed in an instant. Yes, being prepared does help. In a situation like this where do you crawl to find your preps. In a flood, where do you swim to find your preps. The question then becomes, should I chance seeking out my preps. Unsteady buildings, broken gas lines, these are real situations to deal with and think about. Still, it's always better to think positive and to prep as best you can in hopes it will be a lifesaver for you and you don't have to face bare shelves in the markets.

In some situations having a BOB in your vehicle will help you if you're able to salvage it. Again many vehicles get destroyed during floods and earthquakes. Placing caches away from home is another way to hopefully enable yourself and loved ones to have the chance to survive. There are many places and different ways to accomplish this as we have discussed many times. Thinking outside of the box does help placing these in more strategic hideouts to avail yourself getting to them if/when needed.
