seriously how many times does the military even need to use something like that yes I know, sometimes it would be good to have but they have the squad gun which shoots pretty fast In VietNam they had this thing called "puff the magic dragon", "spooky" and "Black Betty" it had to be in a plane it was so big and heavy but youtu.be/uKOrpyO0z487.62 or .22, some missiles all from multiple gatling gun format raining fire. providing suppressing fire over an elliptical area approximately 52 yd (47.5 m) in diameter, placing a round every 2.4 yd (2.2 m) during a three-second burst. The M134 Minigun is a 7.62×51mm NATO, six-barrel rotary machine gun with a high rate of fire (2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute) Never even saw one but heard they were a fearsome site So for this thing to be hand carried/held is pretty assume but I would think the weight of the ammo would limit a mobile function, stationary no match. Maybe would be fun to shoot a few times I have never been much of a fan of machine gun fire shooting 6k rounds a minute or 100 rounds a second. give me a 3 shot burst every trigger pull. but hey, that's just me.

Well I've only got to shoot a Thompson and a 10/22 full auto.
Didn't really say I wanted one....but I'd dang sure love to run a few belts through one!!! And can be just a run of the mill mini gun.
Now not having been in the military, I have no cule. But if one gets the chance, they should catch the movie Act of Valor. And I actually got nose to nose with one of those SEALS river boats. Pearl River about 14 years ago. SEALS do most of that type of training in MS. Those mini guns, 50s and M-60s will make your jaw drop...lol
They were pretty cool about it. They escorted us back to the line of demarcation. Since then Gatling guns have always intrigued me. And yeah I haven't been back. Got my attention....

“On Time, On Target, Never Quit” Do You Have What It Takes to Be a SWCC Special Warfare Boat Operator? Don't know what they use now, some kind of new Sealion, cost $9 million and was delivered in 2003 when a demonstration is understood to have taken place Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2644311/The-secret-stealth-boats-designed-Navy-SEALs-regularly-spotted-Columbia-river.html#ixzz4FkWR4BTs Follow us: @mailonline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook I got to ride a few times in a river on the wrong side of a border in a craft piloted by SEALS. Most times I went in or came out in a black horse but some times it had to be by boat going in, and sometimes a boat would be an alternate pickup. I call them boats on purpose because they don't like it when you call them boats (they are "watercraft") but they were some good guys for boat drivers.

Thompson will kick your butt. I don't know how all them movie guys do it one handed all day.
The M60 was my hero. When you hear that thump thump of a black horse and those twin 60's you know your ride out has arrived.
Running a belt are two would be a blast, a short blast but a blast.

60s are great fun to shoot. Not so much carrying one all day in Georgia. But I always felt kinda proud they'd pick me to hump it. 50s? Holy crap. John Wayne, Rambo and Chuck Norris all in one.

The Thompson was a hoot. The Gulfport Police dept back in the late 70s and early 80s still had 4 Thompsons in the armory. They were left over from WW2. Were given to the pd by uncle Sam. The dept weapons officer invited me to try one out. I got to run 10 mags before I had enough. At over 10 lbs it is a lot of gun. These had the front grip. It made all the difference in control.
And I should have said box not belt....lol

I was really surprised to find four Thompsons in the armory at the little police station I worked for in Chanute, KS during my first two years of college after the USMC
They got theirs when a shipment of illegal guns was captured running from Tulsa, OK to KC, KS
The FBI/DOD let them keep them during and after the trial as a reward
without that front grip I don't think you could have held on to one. The M60 is 23 freaking pounds without ammo, ammo can is another 50# per 1000, but I would rather have it than the Thompson. I am sure there are WWII guys who would rather have the Thompson.
Thompson shorter for closer MER 200 yards while 60 would be too long for close order combat its MER is 1200 yards
stick box or a drum on the Thompson at 42# for a 1000 rounds and belt in an ammo can for the 60
1000 rounds for the mini gun is 22# and the gun is 16# just for comparison.

The M240 has now replaced the 60. Made by FN, Its much more reliable and is smoove as melted butta to shoot. Been on it several times and its my favorite gun ever to shoot. Cycles the 7.62mm belt fed at about 600 rd/m. It is a real pig at 27 pounds. At one time, we backed that up with the M14 Tango since it shot the same ammo. Both bad a$$!!!

Yeah I'm jacking my thread...lol
Two guns I sent away that I wish I had back. Smith 627 and M1 Garand.
Those two were the most accurate, fun to shoot weapons I've owned.
I hope to have another M1 someday. Not sure why, just one of those things....
