While not exactly a micro, it is fairly compact for a 12 round pistol. There are extended mags too, but to me that negates the whole point.

Machining and finishing seem to be the key.
Manufacturer gets faster and gets sloppy
Case in point
I have a 70's Colt 1911 and a 90's Colt 1911 equivalent
break them down and compare them and the 70's is smooth edges that fit tight
while the 90's is flat/sq/hard edges and noticeable movement between parts
a Dremel helped the 90's considerable softening polishing and smoothing corners but you can't fix slop without adding metal and i ain't the one for that
burs that should be smoothed over can cause issues
and I always work on all my trigger groups, either trading them out for after market replacement parts or polishing and smoothing
I have managed to pick up a few guns due to previous owners not liking the action and a little Dremel work made them fine
fit and finish are the key to an almost there firearm, but it won't make a Hi-Point out of an RG, it just can't be done. No amount of cosmetic fixes is ever going to make some one think their RG is a hand gun

Oh. The pain. Someone pull that large knife from my back. I've been set upon by ruffians who have no taste for frontal assault. LOL Cold Z Man, Cold. Hey! That's the most talked about gun on this forum. Not in a complimentary way, but still.... Lmao

Update: 435 rounds down the pipe and still not one hiccup of any kind. I gave the slide and trigger group a quick spray and wipe with CLP at about 330 rounds.
Fed it 158gr, 124gr and 115gr FMJ/JHP in four flavors. Rapid fire, slow fire and mixed magazines. Feeling more comfortable with the trigger so my groups have tightened up just enough to break skeet clay's on the berm at 15 yards - well...most of the time anyway. Speed and accuracy will improve with more trigger time. I'm going to tear it down when I get a chance, to really clean it up and look for wear points. The lands/grooves in the stainless barrel still look sharp with no obvious fowling yet.
While this Taurus may never enjoy the mystique and cult following of high-end exotics like the offerings from Röhm Gesellschaft, I trust this little gun now.

Just an FYI in case someone wants to know. This Taurus PT111 G2 has had one FTE to date out of a total of just under 750 rounds down the pipe. It was an aluminum cased Federal FMJ round that didn't cleanly eject during maximum speed rapid fire on about the 65th round that day. Ended up with a double feed that cleared easily by pulling the slide back hard and letting gravity do it's job. Shot more of the same ammo with no issues. (Hey, it's only $10 per box of 50 and burns clean!) But, I have to say that my accuracy sucks because of my old eyeballs, the short barrel and the 6-8 lb trigger in SA. With deliberate slow fire from a table rest, the gun will put every single round on the POA. But I am hard pressed to keep 6 of 12 rounds in tight center mass at 15-25 yards with offhand medium-rapid fire. It's me, not the gun. Gonna have to either get glasses or get my eyes fixed - too much work to see the front sight and the target at the same time! (But I'm deadly at 15 feet! ) But, for around $150 to $200 on the used market, or $230 to $250 new - it makes a very reliable, very compact 9mm, 12+ 1 truck/backup/spare/throwaway gun, that easily swallows +P JHP. I picked up one of these lock boxes for my truck, at Academy on sale for $30. Lock Box LinkThey make some rapid deployment electronic versions - but I like old school puzzle locks.....By adding second cable, I am happy with the security of putting my guns in there for a quick trip into a store. One cable looped around each seat base bracket makes it slow to cut and remove. Otherwise the little Taurus lives in my center console in condition one with one spare 12 round mag, and two more identical mags in the lock box. Again, just FWIW. Marc
