I'm thinking an electronic sight/scope on a firearm would be effected/affected. (Sorry every time I write those words I think about an Army engineer major that would always change it when he scrutinized the readiness report I wrote every month for the CG of 1st Armored. But he would change 'the' to 'the' just because he could. And that was 31 years ago. Guess he made an impression of some kind)

The short answer is, maybe. Holographic sights and Red Dot sights use lasers to work. So, naturally, they should be effected by an EMP. Many of us are concerned about the real likelyhood of an EMP attack in this country after the pot bellied pig fired off his science project over Japan's airspace this weekend. Anyone care to guess which optic would still function after an EMP hit? I'd think the Trijicon would most likely be to one to keep going because its fiberoptics, tritum dot and no batteries needed. Co-witness iron sites are always a must on a Saiga, but this topic might be something good to think about before forking out big$$ for one of these scopes. Heck, they may all not work in the end. www.futurescience.com/emp/EMP-myths.htmlwww.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Electronic_Sights_vs_EMP/18-299543/?

Seems like a really GOOD time for folks to learn to use iron sights again? Even the Acogs only have a limited shelf life, then begin to slowly dim out, and need refurbishment.
