I just finished using up a supply of Spam. Expiration date was August 2015, not quite 4 years old. It got diced with eggs for omelettes and in tomato gravy to eat with spaghetti. Sometimes it was blended in Chef Salads. And lastly sliced, heated in the frying pan, slapped between two slices of bread with a little mustard to boot. Cest Si Bon!

You mention that co2 is better for some things. Will it not work for the rice?? Thanks so much for this info. If you're sure the rice hasn't started to break down you can. Problem is there is more than an even chance it has unless it's been totally stripped of bran already. Vacuum, inert gas, or nothing are the surest options. Of the typical long term storage grains, rice produces the most methane when in full breakdown.

Mix together cubed Spam, boiled cubed potatoes and enough sour cream to hold it together with a little to spare, bake in a casserole dish to put a teensy bit of brown on top, and eat. Best use of Spam on the planet ever!
