Hate to hear this woodyz, I have to ask about 20 units of LANTUS once a day? I have a wife that has been insulin dependent for 15 plus years. Her experience along with current research suggest that splitting that particular shot does a much better job of helping you keep the blood sugar balanced.... Also precisely what does diabetic diet mean? I presume it means counting carbs and shooting short acting insulin according to current blood sugar number and intake of carbs? My Bosslady is always willing to talk with anyone dealing with these issues so if you have any interest in that direction let me know... Derrin So, now officially a type 2 diabetic, 20 units of LANTUS, long action insulin every night diabetic diet low sodium diet blood sugar and inr, blood clotting ability, finger sticks 4 times a day, blood pressure 4 times a day Lovenox shot in belly twice a day to bridge warfarin insulin shot units depending on blood sugar reading still taking rat poison, warfarin had a small stroke due to low inr, blood too thick, made clot on plastic valve, went to brain lost use of left hand, not arm or leg, just hand saw new heart Dr. will make plan when blood sugar and inr get right saw Neurology Dr. in hospital said he thinks i will regain use of my hand and gave me exercises for it

I won't make 6 more months without some heart work, that;s what the Dr wants to get a plan for,
by plan I mean schedule dates for a heart cath and then new bi-passes, it was decided I needed them in the hospital, just a matter of when, but soon
trying to get my pt inr and blood sugar under some level of consistency first

this morning I woke up with me and the bed covered in blood, so I would guess the Lovenox and rat poison, warfarin, have my blood thin enough now
all the bleeding came from the 9pm shot to the belly
at first I worried about internal bleeding, but no blood in my poop or pee, so I think I am fine there
don't feel very good but I will stop the Warfarin and the lovenox until the new Dr tells me what to do.
it's a fine line between bleeding or stroke but i will wing it until I hear something

So the left hand thing is weird, I can use it to the point feeling something is needed, I don't feel anything with the thumb or fingers, they re just numb
I did find a soft knot about the size of a plumb below my left elbow I didn't know was there and I have a hard knot and bruise where an iv was on my left bicep
they don't hurt so I ignore them, either of them are big enough to be pushing on a nerve so we will see what happens as they go down

woodyz, I am "liking" your posts only to let you know I read them and will pray. Hoping your new doc can get a grip on all this.

stopped the Lovenox for now, split the LANTUS into 2 of 10 from 1 of 20 + doing the quick insulin based on blood sugar reading at the time 4 times a day
I'm not about giving up, but I will admit it's getting harder and harder just to stay alive
INR just won't come up?
scheduled a heart stress test for next week, don't like them much, but it's part of the process to getting the heart fixed and I need to get it fixed and get off a lot of the meds, Grand father-n-law had heart surgery at 80 so I am staying positive that I still can benefit.
