I sure would like an update with some pix on that last Smokepole you were building.
They are both at the engraver now. My 20ga Flintlock Fowler, and 40 cal Southern Mountain Rifle.
Engravers do take some time.

mmmm...I probably just waste ammo....except it's not really a waste at this point since I'm still learning basic marksmanship.
I pretty much go to the range with 3 or 4 firearms and fire maybe 30 rounds through each one, usually seated with rifles, usually standing with pistols. I occasionally fire standing and prone with the rifles, but I feel weird because pretty much every one at the range is firing seated at the bench...
I competed in one CMP match which was great fun and the "stress" of competition was good....not that it simulates battle stress but at least it is SOMETHING different and stressful and timed.
I'd love hear any recommendations on how to "spice up" my range time to be more productive since I am finally becoming fairly reliable in stationary positions....

Miss J, I can't remember if it was discussed before.....'old timers', but if there is an active IDPA group near you they have all classes from never shot to master. It is close quarters shooting under time and for score. Most any hand gun is eligible. It is about the most fun you can have standing up, and as time passes they also have three gun shoots for rifle, shot gun and pistol. I'd highly recommend it.

I did not read all the posts here...we shoot for accuracy. Trace came to me this evening asking if I wanted to shoot. I had to tell him no as I was grilling steaks and time before dusk would not permit. Tomorrow is a different story though. We tend to shoot on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I've got a 40 yard range behind the house. The last time I actually went to a "Pay per lane" range I took Trace and we spent 333 rounds of .22 LR ammo and about 45-50 .40 cal. I was very proud of his performance on his target. A few weeks ago Boo, Trace and I shot around 100 rounds of .22 LR and 30 rounds (two mags) of .40 cal.

Other than practice at work for my Glock 22, Ar15 and shottie, I don't shoot much other than .22s. I can't afford the ammo.
