Well I finally stopped looking at them and spent the money. Stag M1 ar-15. I took a pic with my phone but it was really bad so I will just post a link to there website. www.stagarms.com/product_info.php?cPath=13_22&products_id=205I went to our outdoor range and put about 250 rounds through it real quick like after a little sighting in. I didn't get a great zero but the weather was moving in and driving an accord and having to cross a small creek I had to get moving before it got to bad. I picked up one of these store.magpul.com/product/MAG440/184and one of these store.magpul.com/product/MAG412/46and a handful of these store.magpul.com/product/MAG557/2I did a few ready up drills and was quite happy with the way it shot. Put roughly 50 of the 60 into a 1 foot circle target at roughly 43 yards if my pace count is still accurate. Fairly accurate with my crummy group and zero. I am already itching to pick up a eotech or maybe an acog. Anyone have a preference? I have shot with acog's while playing army and have not had an chance to shoot any eotechs. I will put up some pics once I get a good zero and see how good my eyes are out to 200 yards with irons.

Haven't used the eotech myself but others I've talked to prefer the acog.

I have the exact same rifle. Love it. It's accurate, and shoots anything I run through it quite well. I would rather have 1 ACOG than 10 EoTechs. I have the Eotech and waller through life with it. I ended up putting it on my HK MP-5. My Recommendation would be a 2x7 power Redfield like WoodsCustom-Reloaded uses. Great for up close, then you can power it up for longer ranges. They are WAY WAY cheaper than a a Eotech or ACOG. WC

Do you reload for it or shoot factory? I have read that due to 1/9 twist most don't like the heavier bullets. Thanks for the scope idea. I really enjoy the acog's that are issued to us, but I am not 100% sold that spending 1g on a scope for a ar is in my best interest. I'll take a look at that redfield.

For sure don't go Eotech. I got one several years ago on a S&W AR and it is crap. Fuzzy and blurry. It does zero good but I hate looking through it. I put a trijicon tritium reflex, non powered one on a RR and it is wonderful. It is not the Acog. About $450.00 I just can't decide if I want to pay for the Acog. I think I would rather have a trijicon hunting scope? Enjoy your new toy.

I liked the Redfield so much that I bought a second one for my 10-22. Redfield's customer service is also great. Of course the company is owned by Leopold.

I just put a 30.00 tasco red dot on mine set up for lower 1/3 co-witness so if no battery it is a crude ghost ring. The tasco dot is fuzzy if you look hrough it like a scope but he point is shoot both eyes open to let the dot super impose on target. Done correctly it is amazingly clear. Just as clear as my old aimpoint but

I put a trijicon tritium reflex, non powered one on a RR and it is wonderful. It is not the Acog. About $450.00. +1. No batteries needed, red dot works 24/7. Great 2 eyes open, fast action sight out to about 250 yards. Beyond that, the red dot is too big and begins to obscure the target.

Saw one at a gun show but way out of my range right now. Thanks for the quick review will In that case, I'd go with the Redfield. I have one in the 3x9 magnification on my 30-06. It's a fine scope although the range finding marks are just a rough estimate for various calibers. The further out I shoot, the more off they are. The 500 yard mark is completly wrong.

Next question.
What sling or style of sling do you all prefer? I have an issued 3 point on the m4 but I generally use it as a 2 point and use a carabiner clipped to my gear. I have not used a true single point before.
I like the three point as I can run using it all though not that well. I am not sure I could truly run with my arms as free with a single point.

Just got back from the range ;D! Always a good time. This makes the third time since I have bought the rifle I have been able to shoot. I really like it the more I get to use the rifle. I finally got a good zero on it and was able to use it at distance to see how well it will perform. I would say it is fairly accurate. I was shooting sitting and off hand from the ground at about 80 yards with old school open sights. Hopefully the pic loads. One thing I did notice is the trigger reset is a little sticky with a noticeable audible click. I have not noticed this with my issued weapon and is all I have to compare it to. Is this normal? Kutkota, if you shoot that good with old school sights at 80 yards why would you want a scope unless you really want to put rounds in the center at 200 yards (but then I have a heavy bbl .223 bolt action with a really good scope).. nice shooting.
