So my family will be traveling by airplane to Washington/Oregon next week. We will be exploring Seattle and Portland as well as some day hikes in the area mountains/volcanoes. Being as I’m a survivalist, I wanted to bring some survival stuff just in case. We are checking one bag, and my wife has reluctantly agreed to allow me a small amount of space in there for survival tools. Here’s what I’m bringing…. Here’s what’s there 1) Afghan Bush knife 2) In the sheath pocket of the knife is a large fire steel and sharpening stone 3) A poncho 4) Tomahawk 5) A scoped Ruger .22 pistol for hunting and a .380 pocket pistol for personal protection 6) A box filled with spare ammo for both pistols 7) Leatherman Wave 8) Two lighters and smaller fire steel 9) 2x 25’ para-cord 10) A small second knife sharpener 11) 2x Platypus 1 liter canteens/bladders 12) Peltz headlamp w/spare bats 13) Bottle of water purification pills 14) Compass 15) 3x yo-yo auto fishing reels 16) A fishing kit

OK, I just added a few maxi-pads, band-aids and some anti-biotic ointment.

Any prescription meds? Is that a Cold steel hawk. I have one similar to that and really like it.

Nice kit. Make sure to pick up some water bottles before you go out. With the iodine you shouldn't need a container to boil in, though I would bring one simply because I can't stand the taste of iodine.

Have a great time. I have never made it to that part of the U.S. but I hear that it is beautiful.

Looks very much like what I have/did in my recent trip to CA.
Took my Mark lll and 500 rds of ammo. Have a nice Pelican case for my pistols.
Leave the lighters, as they are not allowed at all, even checked. Matches pretty much too. Don't give them a reason to open you up. Also now AA will give you a signed "unloaded" card to tape on the outside of your gun case. Not sure what other airlines are doing or if it was a TSA thing. I took ammo in it factory boxes.
I had 2 checked bags for just me, but one was tools. (kids projects)
Otherwise have a great time and be careful!
Jimmy

WILL, I live a couple hours north of Seattle, the thing I see missing is shelter... Its the wet season up in here, keep it in mind amigo and have fun. I wonder if there are any forum members in PDX or SEA that would offer an open door in a crisis to a fellow forum member.

Though it would depend a bit on the size of the family and the size shelter you would need to build.

I'm assuming you've checked on CCW laws to make sure you can carry there as well.
O.S.
