Most have seen the initial pics of my XD, now here is what I have done over the last couple weeks to personalize it Before: Shown with my Colt Recon for size comparison: First I highlighted the lettering with epoxy enamel paint: I will not post the other side since the serial number is in two locations which cannot be hidden without defacing the photo Next I reworked the grip by sanding off the factory texture and added no-slip tape made for outdoor use on trucks. It has no paper backing to crack and is resistant to weather and solvents Any questions on how to color or remove texture I will be happy to help! thanks for looking!

Nice job on removing the texture. I ended up getting a rubber grip for my 9mm because the texture was a killer. DH said I could sand it off but wasn't sure how well that would turn out.

it was pretty easy with a detail sander and some patience. I started out hand sanding just to take the points off then realized it made the grip feel smaller and kept going. I used 120 grit and even without the tape on it you can simply clean with alcohol and it has a nice secure feel. The pic I just added of the top of slide has a fleck of lint on it making it seem I missed a spot.

I am not sure I will do it to mine but I would be interested in how you highlighted the lettering and stenciling.

I did some of the letters on my AR, I also like to color windage and elevation marks on sights. You can test colors by using crayon. Color it, see how it looks if you don't like it wipe it off. Its handy before using some thing permanent like enamel.
