Day pack attaches to the ILBE wonderfully. LBV houses my mag pouches (.223 and .45). Its just really bulky, and a P.I.T.A. to wear while wearing the ILBE. I didn't know if you guys had any trick or ideas. I think the LBV will live in the ILBE unless it seems necessary for it not to.

Gypsy Circus Monkeys They have a thing for firearms and will rob you blind in the blink of an eye. Here's one caught casing the place from the woods.. With beady eyes and a honker for a nose like that, they can't be up to any good... Dang! I've never seen one up close. I can see why people let their guard down as they appear deceptively slow and not particularly stealthy! Sneaky ba$tards!

Could you sell the lbv and pick up a flc with wider options as far as placement of pouches?

Must be why the Gypsies chose them.

Could you sell the lbv and pick up a flc with wider options as far as placement of pouches? My LBV is an FLC vest. This is where I am running into issues. The vest with 30 rnd mag pouches, a compass pouch and IFAK is about all it can hold IF I also want to wear the ILBE. I could easily pack more stuff onto the vest if I were to stick with the assault pack only. The assault pack is in essence a get home bag but is an integral part of the bug out bag (ILBE). Once the BOB is in the field the assault pack shifts roles from a GHB to a scout bag/edc type. Unless I actively need the LBV (combat) it can live in the ILBE I suppose. Maybe I should design the "system" to be comfortable with the assault pack only and quit trying to make it work with the ILBE (BOB). And what is all this talk about monkeys and gypsies.

Gotcha, terms had me confused. I am not familiar with the ILBE which I believe is what the Marines use. I know with the Army stuff it is quite comfy in a realitive sense with the ruck, armor, and FLC. I guess they are configured a little different.

You're correct: Marines use ILBEs. My Christmas gift (same as what cwi's wife uses ) still offers me plenty of room for a waist pack (that may surprise you, but that's how out of proportion I am ).

Sorry the pics are so big ILBE Vest. I have 5 30 rnd pouches sitting high as the hip belt covers the bottom of the vest. Small IFAK and compass pouch sit above the mag pouches, these might move for better access to the mags.

Just an update on this. I have bought a Condor Tactical MCR1 chest rig to replace the zip up vest thing I have. Its got more useable space on it in the front because it dosnt have a zipper. Its coming in the mail next week, I'll let you know how it pans out.
