Was fishing the Tuscarawas River for pike and throwing a nice sized buzz bait when i got a hit. Wham, water went flying and the fight was on, to my surprise it was a pretty nice smallmouth bass or what we call a bronze back.

Well done OT! The moral of your video is if the fish aren't biting under one bridge, switch over to the other. Nice catch!

Lefty The only fish I do keep are bluegill, you can't hurt the population and they taste great.Other then that all fish caught go back to fight another day.

Pound for pound the smallie rules! They really can crush a buzz bait. Nice fish dude! You are correct but the buzzbait would not be my first or second choice for catching smallies. Thanks for sending the pic of that monster largemouth bass you caught yesterday, hope you are able to post the video or a pic. Make sure you include all the details about the hit and the catch.

Try using an 1/8th oz black or white buzz bait for smallies. We enjoy great success on them in creeks around where I live in MO during low light conditions (morning and early evening). My go-to bait for bronze backs though is a 4" twin tailed skirted grub in #2 green pumpkin (by Yamamoto or Chompers). I throw it on a 1/8 standing jig head or comparable Texas rig. For some reason, they seem to like slightly downsized lures. Im tellin ya, on a good day they cant leave the Chompers alone. Ill write some later on using a trick worm. You come see me next year between July and Oct and Ill put you on some fun brother!

All I can say is YUMMY!! Jimmy Sad to say Jimmy but you would not want to eat these fish. Every ditch creek and river has some kind of contaminate running into it. Only in an emergency would I ever eat fish from running water in Ohio.
