In case you haven't discovered it yet, we have a chat room. Look on the extreme right end of the top menu bar and click on the blue conversation bubble. You'll need to sign in, but I think after once you don't have to do it again as long as you stay logged in here. The chat room is nice with a lot of features: sound effects, smilies, and the ability to change font size in case you want it larger for ease in reading. If you discover anything else about it, let us know here.

It's in the box below the SB title. Once you click that below the "recent topics you have participated in" you shoudl see a log in box Type in your username? But that's as far as I'm getting.

I've use the chat room several times. When I click on the live chat button up there ^ on the right, I get taken to a page where I have a sign in. I don't need to sign in because I never log off here, and I'm already signed in. Clicking the button takes me right in. There's usually nobody there unless I've arranged to meet someone in there. We don't have a feature on the main page that shows who's in there, unfortunately. This IS the cheap board, after all. What? Hey, I had a coupon and you guys know what a penny pincher I am...

You may need to download a player (javascript I think) to get it to work.

Nope, this is NOT working.
I installed it, clicked on live chat at the top of the page, but no dice. "A missing plugin is required..." Having only just installed the dopey thing, you'd think the java bit would be seen. Apparently not. I'm not about to waste more time fooling with it today since I have a 3-hour gig tonight (4 by the time I've got the equipment moved and back again) and the garden needs attention.

I've gotta ask.....and this may just be my computer ignorance showing.....What are the benefits of a chat room? We sort of treat the forum (in some respects) as one now. I guess I need to be schooled or edumacated.

Crashdearie, a chat room is particularly good for scheduled meetings, like the weekly prayer chats I would like to set up one of these days soon. Several people gather, someone leads off the prayer, everyone chimes in as they feel led. I've done this before elsewhere and I miss it something fierce. In fact, I firmly believe just such a prayer chat saved my life some years back. I was driving long distance completely exhausted and I fell asleep at the wheel, doing 65 mph. SOMEthing woke me up with a start just as my van was headed for the rock face that bordered the road. I stopped, pulled over and slept for an hour, then made it safely home. That same day I described what happened to my best friend Lynne (also a member here now), and she asked me what time it happened. I told her, and she got very quiet, then explained that that was the same time she had been leading prayer chat and the prayer was specifically for safe travels for me that day. Chat meetings are also great for group discussion of something that affects the members, or just a few people who find it faster than back-and-forth PMs. I especially wanted to be able to provide this optional service for the members here, so I hope you folks find it useful.

I've been logged onto it a few times, but never have seen anyone else in it.
As for a use, it's more real time than a forum post, which would be a better source for collaborative thinking. That would be about the only thing I could think of for a use.

When you get this set up I would like to be a part of it. Sounds like a great idea CCM!
