Timely post CCM
The governor announced that if there is a hurricane heading for SC coast-there will be a *mandatory* evacuation along the coast. No voluntary evacuation allowed.
So if you live along the coast, keep your vehicle in good condition, BOB bag with you,get familiar with the evac routes, hotels, camping areas and take your pets with you.

That is something I will NEVER understnad....WHY do people leave their pets behind when there is an evacuation or during and emergency? I mean, we have livestock, beut we make sure we don't have more than we can haul. We know we can put everything on 1 of 3 trasilers and we have 4 people who can drive a truck and pull a trailer and ALL our animals PLUS feed and hay can leave all at once...WHY would people leave their animals?

People leave their animals because they are unpreparred and heading out to some type of government provided shelter that won't take pets.

True that. ^ Sorry I was so harsh. I just hate it when people abandon animals. Hubby Mike is a real estate appraiser and he always cringes when he has to go inspect and photograph a foreclosure house that's been abandoned. :-(

I'm not saying you or anyone was harsh. People should plan for their pets and other animals. It's the responsibility you assume when you have them. But many view them as disposable.
Then you have people who would not leave their pets during Katrina and died. So now I think they have some kind of animal shelter plan when people have to evacuate.

Ole dude has smoked one to many blunts if he thinks a gang is gonna come to the woods and take anything from a group of rednecks or any other group for that matter who have been preparing for generations. I almost feel sorry for him...ALMOST....but not quite. He will find out that the "mean streets of the ghetto" don't man chit compared to country folk defending whats theirs with no backlash for doing so.

He misses one very important point. Preppers train with those weapons. For every gangsta style pull of the trigger from the hip or from a pistol fired sideways, those preppers will answer with training and aim.
He should think about that one.

Yeah, I am pretty sure his 9mm won't do him and his buddies much good when I am picking them off at a mile and a half through their hoopty windshield with my 50 cal. as they make their way up my dirt road from the highway. The other alternative is to take them out, one by one, with a bow and arrows as they stomp through my woods. I am willing to bet that no matter how big and bad they are to their homies on the street, they will be peeing their pants and crying for mommy after the second or third of their friends drops like a 10 point buck with my fletching sticking out of their chest and they still have no idea where the shots are coming from. LOL

On a serious note, if your survival plan involves driving a long way, you are pretty much assured of failure. Other than non emergency weather related evacuation I just don't see travel being viable. If some event that is bad enough that we are BUGGING OUT roads will be clogged, gas short or non available, violence likely. Possible bans on travel altogether, road blocks, martial law? I just would not want my plan to revolve around being able to drive out of danger. If you can not walk to it over a few days time, it is probably a place you will never see. This is my train of thought also.

regarding mister low quality video.... he is an A$$ for sure....but don't dismiss him completely.
He does make some pretty good points about needing to assemble. Like him or hate him a few people can't hold down a stockpile for long....one way or another there has to be a better plan...
he's an idiot for thinking we haven't considered it though.... good luck when your rag tag group of 15 rolls up onto my group of 12. Home court advantage. Training. Planning. Hopefully Divine Justice.
We won't want to exchange any rounds, but it won't be a fair fight. We'll win, but we might take some losses....unfortunately, the NEXT time a rag tag clan of 15 rolls up we might only be down to 9 or 10 effective shooters....you can see how it degrades from there.
Numbers are important. What happens when your 12 trained adults dwindles to 9? Do you put your 14 year old girl on the front lines? What about the neighbor's 12 year old boy? Points to ponder NOW while you have the luxury of planning...
Still, I'm glad he posted that video....good outsider perspective. Also interesting that he thinks 15-20 is a big posse...
