I knew the slingshot wasn't going to win as the calibers went up, but I am still impressed by what it was able to do. I shudder to think what would happen to a human target as all that energy transferred from the steel ball to flesh and bone.

interesting results on the 9mm and 357 sig, i would have guessed a bigger gap
i have either a wrist rocket or replacement group in all 48 hr and up bags so i can make one
but nothing like his giant one
at short range i would guess equal to a .22
However, right now I couldn't do anything with one with my grip

The problem I have with their experiment...the angle of leverage is not consistent from one to the next one inch can make a big difference in the swing... not in really trying invalidate that is still one bad mother of a sling shot:) I just don't agree with the results 100% between the calibers...

Ballistic gel would have been more telling I think.

Ballistic gel would have been more telling I think. So do I, and that's my biggest criticism with the video. Still thought the comparison was interesting either way.

Lots of variables to consider with each. Of course high caliber or any caliber gun for that matter still measures the same velocity of speed with each shot. Distance tells a different story as to how much damage each create if you hit your target.
Slingshots have the advantage of using various items as ammo. It takes lots of practice to get off a decent shot to shoot straight and hit the target. One item of ammo I have are arrow heads each with three razor edges to them. The downfall, as we age, our strength weakens, and sometimes even the hands weaken with arthritic conditions. Velocity of shots aren't consistent.
Either one can do damage but any gun would be the comfort choice in my opinion.

A mark? More like sutures and a concussion. Lucky he didn't lose an eye. And THAT was the ricchochet. Yeah I think safety is important.

I guess he will be using a softer backstop next time won't he?
I like 1/2" white marbles for ammo cause I can see them better in the air.
closest I ever came to getting hit by a bounce was at a tree rat and it hit the tree limb and bounced back at me.

l was looking into getting a slingshot. does anyone have any recomendations? also found out that they will not ship them to new york You can make your own fairly cheaply and it will be a lot better then "most store bought" ones... If you have never tried it.. start simple and stop by a tire repair shop and ask them if they have any old inner tubes around that you can have to make the bands out of... They will usually give them to you for free... Then all you need is a stout Y stick or you can cut the handle out of a piece of wood...I use several wraps light string to attach the bands and pouches... half then fun is playing around making them You can basically make em for almost free

Yep I like the white marbles too. I also use regular marbles too. I prefer 3/8 steel shot. Have taken tree rats, 2 rabbits, numerous birds. Made several but never as good as my 3 different store boughts. Wrist Rocket and 2 other brands that the name escapes me. Got one a wally world and one at academy. I also have purchased the red tapered bands. They are definitely more powerful. I keep one in each of two bags and one by the front door.... Jimmy
