This is my plan too, I have what I need at home, water, food medications, a big first aid kit, dog food, proper attire for the weather outside, and I do not need electric for cooking or heating; it is propane for as long as it last (100 gallons and I plan for another 100 gallon container, generators, gasoline, and best of all a nice comfortable bed, plenty of flashlights and lanterns, blankets, etc. Why would I want to leave this place? But if I have to I can always relay on my BOB and hauling trailer to take as much as possible with me and head to my son's place. That is my plan. Mike

Well I can't say I'm heading for the closest hills cuz we don't have any. Made a pact with the gators, I won't eat them if they don't eat me.

I love seeing all the different thought processes. That's why I post stuff like this. I agree that the tv shows don't teach alot, unless you watch the part I'm looking at. The skills they use are fine, but what I seeing is what their bodies are doing during the 21 days or so. How much weight they lose, how much energy they have.....etc. what they eat I don't care much about, but how their energy maintains is interesting to me. As I think about a bug out bag, it's to help get me away from whatever the danger is, as fast as reasonable one can. Not sure I'm going to have time with all the cool Wizz bang toys. Now granted some would no doubt help me out. But during a 24-96 hour clearing out scenario, putting distance between me and whatever is my plan. Having a firearm with sufficient ammo, a decent knife, a way to make fire and food/water with me gets me down the road faster. Having time to gather from my surroundings may not be an option. More later. Jimmy Simply put you supplement when you can, this can be food or tools even fireprep. Don't open your BOB until you really have to. If your in a hurry then you may not have time to look for optional items, best to just dig right in.

So anything new that anyone's doing? I have both vehicles now bagged out.... I got this emp/solar flare thing hung up in my head. If I were to make a 30-60 mile run somewhere and the lights go out, I better have something to hold out with. And considering we probably never have any real time notice, it would happen when your least likely thinking about it....there I go talking about that flatfooted thing again..... Happy bobs, seems I just let this thread go away.... Jimmy

Jimmy, that kinda nags at me to. Any traveling makes me anxious. Knowing if I go very far, the chances of me walking back, are at best slim. If I could it would take a good while. Alot like the continuing march on walking dead, and probably involving unfriendly adventures. Along with renewing bag contents the car got armored up a little extra, plus a few more comfort items. We got a lot of nut cases around the world and at home running things. EMP could be the least of our worries. Game on!

I don't buy canned goods cuz I lost a lot from leakage, bulging cans (who knows what was brewing in them), and BPA strips in cans which were long past their due dates (too much to rotate). Now I focus on Knorr's foil packed meals. Meat to add to the meal wouldn't be a problem, whether it's fish, fowl or squirrels. I've cooked older packages past due by years and they still taste great. They're light to carry and need a minimum amount of water to cook. Enough in one pack to feed 3-4 people if you're not looking for a five course meal. The varieties to choose from are huge with new varieties being added often. So this is my biggest improvement in prepping and packing my BOB.

HEMP/EMP we would have no notice outside possible brief notice of incoming ICMBs.

I have a good many of those rations on hand in various places and I think they work well at what they are made for
