Has anyone used bleach bottles to store water? The hdpe #2 code on the bottom would seem to indicate they are not IDEAL, but seems to me they don't admit light, residual drops of bleach won't kill you and would probably be beneficial. Thoughts?

I use them yes. I think they are ideal because of the bleach.
Having said that, they fit with my other non potable water. I store water the large liquid clothes detergent bottles also after a throughly rinsing. I would use them for any water need that I'm NOT consuming. Bathing, cleaning stuff etc.
Just my thoughts anyway.

You know I hadn't even thought about using those. Guess I'll have to re-think some things. Good idea, thanks.

I keep all my empty bleach bottles for the same reason plus there heavy construction make them an ideal 1 gallon canteen, no brainer
