Not really, but kinda
I soaked 5# of pinto beans in water then took them out and spread them on top of my long term compost heaps
These are the chipped wood piles we hauled in after the ice storm 3 or 4 years ago
They are about 1/3 of the size they started out (I promise to take/post some pictures tomorrow)
They are pretty good compost right now but I wanted to enrich them some
planting pinto beans will add nitrogen to them
I plan to move them to my raised beds this fall
all I did was throw the beans on top and hack at them some with a hoe to bury the beans a little
yeah I'll take some pics when they start to grow too

so I got this asparagus patch that's in its 3rd year i recognize these, but am confused by these 7' tall ferns it looks like the ferns are getting flowers do I cut these back this fall? Do I save the seed pods or let them self plant? should I harvest those heads or let them just go a couple of more years? It's my first time growing any

You can start cutting the new shoots this year or after they come up next year before they "fern" out for fresh asparagus just depends on how much you have

Was gonna suggest this post went right along with your other post on "alternative energy sources."
