Yea, it be alien, nicknamed Rooster Comb injection.
My right knee is bone on bone and in March the torn cartilage was removed. Of course arthritis kicks in and I was having more pain than before the surgery.
I met a friend of mine who played pro football in the American League. I mentioned my dilemma and he had the same procedure done. Of course I also told him I wasn't ready for knee replacements. He told me he had this injection done years ago and is feeling as great as he did when he was in his prime. He also does lots of jogging to keep his weight down and feels no pain. The best part is not having knee replacements.
I decided today was the day to have this injection. Looking at the rather large seringe shows nothing. The contents are clear and thick and gooey. Yea man that was quite a large needle attached to the large seringe but I was a trooper and didn't flinch. So far, so good. Very little pain and tomorrow is another day.
Was wondering if anyone here has had this injection or can provide some feedback in any other way.

A friend of mine swears by them They do not last forever though and require repeat performances for him every 3-4 months...

CL I have 6 different friends and relatives that have had them. 5 have eventually had knee replacement. IIRC 4 said the rooster comb shot did some good, BUT it is still a temporary fix. Plan on a replacement at some point.
Very important additional info. If you favor that knee too long good chance the other leg, knee or hip will then start giving you problems as you put extra stress on it.
Hopefully the shot will give you enough relief to get you by for a while just try your hardest not to take it to long before biting the bullet and getting that knee fixed.
Sorry Sha wish it was better news.

Why not just get it replaced and be done with it?

Thanks guys for the feedback, it really helped. So... USCGME2 I will answer your question. I realize this is a band aid. For now that's what I want. I've been having problems with the dang knee and living with pain for some time, so I want that band aid. One more thing, Summer is around the corner. I want to get out and do things without a limp and my walking stick. I'll save the surgery for Winter when I'll be staying home more. Last but not least, I have some sexy looking knees and I'm not looking forward to an axe sized scar right down the middle of them. Oh yea, the knees match the legs. Yes I went there.
