With our high water table, we have more trouble keeping them in place and intact. The only posts here are to support the mailbox and they sure don't last very long.

I been using an old bumper jack and chain...no truck or car needed. Wrap chain around post, move jack next to post so it engages the chain...and start jacking.

You mean my fish pond, lol?
Yup. Every time it rains, we see the evidence.

They make a post jack. I just used a hi-lift 4 foot jack and short piece of sturdy chain, like Mud said or F-150.

I used a 4' "off road jack" till I loaned it to a friend and he stripped the detents both up and down. Now way I can figure out exactly how he did that. . Biggest problem is he returned it and never said a word about the damage.

Nothing like friends? Those hi-lifts have a lb rating, but no one pays attention. Stripped lugs is a real common problem because they will lift way past the 2 tons advertised, just not too many times, then they become extremely dangerous. Primarily on the way down. Ok, I wandered off over the horizon.

That kind of video makes me cringe. Somebody is going to get hurt badly trying to emulate it.
