After my surgery I had fourteen steri strips placed on my knee incision to help the glue seal the incision better. I'd like to get my hands on some of those the hospital uses but can't find them in the stores. Only one fell off in a months time, they're that good. I'm still not giving up on them but yesterday I did find some made by Curad which appear to have more going for them than the Band Aid brand I tried using to no avail. These are also waterproof and so far are holding up well. Oh the reason I needed them is because I have two minute openings which bothered me. I asked the doctor to reglue them but he won't. He squeezed both and after five weeks one still bled. So he placed a Band Aid on it. Just wanted to let y'all know just in case you'd want to store some in your First Aid Kits.

Ultimately the cat in question was euthanized because I wouldn't let the vet amputate his leg, but there was an open wound on the leg where the tumor originated. Before it became a tumor, it was a small wound on which, with the vet's blessing, I put allantoin drops (this stuff comes from the comfrey plant). It would have closed the wound had not the tumor been so aggressive.

He said he absolutely doesn't want me applying anything but soap and water on it and I listen to him. Thanks anyway for the tip.

You're right, improvise. Well if I run out that sounds like a winner. I'm still working on getting the stapler and suture kits. All in time. Thanks for the links.

The allantoin wasn't in an oil; it was a tincture, hence alcohol. Follow your doc's advice, but also read about comfrey (allantoin). Fascinating stuff!
