Seems like a great idea. A 2.5 lb., folding bow is attractive - if the design works. I too am looking forward to hearing what you think.

Tried the bow tonight, very cool, the arrow rest didn't hold up, I read in a review that was a issue, no big deal to remedy. Very powerful sank a field tip so deep in a 2X6 had to unscrew the arrow and leave tip there. Still need more practice shoots different than my recurve, happy with the purchase.

At what distance? Sounds like you found a great buy and a good survival bow

Love the idea of a folding bow, now all you need to do is learn how to make arrows and bow string in the field from natural material...your set.

Shots were at 20 yards, will continue to practice until comfortable and consistent up to 25+ yards.

On it ordered some agates stone arrow heads as well as making arrow heads from regular lock keys, take the tops of the keys and cut into arrow head wedge shape, looking at this spring for using young willow shoots for shafts.Flint knapping at some point is the goal.

It all sounds good, heck in a pinch i'm sure you could use a blunt tipped arrow for small game like rabbit...easily killed. I really like using my rock sling but it just doesn't have the needed accuracy for hunting. Plus you need room to sling the rock sling around your head to make the throw. Throwing stick...might as well forget that thing, odds are your going hungry. That leaves two very good options...the bow & the atlatl, the atlatl needs a very good throwing arm for the weapon to work. That leaves the bow at the top of the list in my opinion for the best man made/primitive made weapon. It would be very easy to make a bow and arrow at home or from man made leftovers but doing this all in the field...not impossible but way trickier. The hardest part would be replacing or making the bowstring. How much room would a dozen man made bowstrings, fletching and broad heads take in a backpack ? By the time you run out of your man made mini stock pile you should have the skills of making your own...anywhere. What do you think about the smaller youth made bows you see at the sporting goods store ?

OT all good points you made, most the children's bows would lack power except maybe child's compond or crossbow. Another option I enjoy is Cold Steel big bore blow gun though distance beyond 15-20 may prove to be a concern. Slings I'm horrible with I'm lucky if I hit my house and not the neighbors haha
