This winter will be interesting. A good portion of Europe stands to suffer self induced blackouts, along with California and other locations who jumped too soon on the environmental sword.
Those people don't seem to understand the concept of "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch."
Every household here and abroad could have an electric car, but they still have to have somewhere to charge them. Borrowing from Peter, to pay Paul like California is want to do, isn't going to work this time. The neighboring states they imported power from in the past, simply don't have the power to shift into California anymore. The caterwauling from places like California will be harsh and excessive imo.
Tennessee Valley is rich in natural resources, and Nuclear and Hydro power. But even TVA, is suffering from power shortfalls. We've had three blackouts this year on the grid as a result.
Georgia Power, Dominion Power, and the rest just completed several conversions to natural gas. Everyone connected to their grids are now in danger of the same thing.
In fact, only Florida stands alone in not being likely to be affected. That by dint of nuclear power they have, along with not prematurely trashing their coal capacity.
We've generated 5 Mwh of solar and wind since January here. The local utility sent us a new contract for the excess that changed the deal. Effectively if we stayed on the grid, they could take more of our capacity to use. They got the middle finger of disagreement for their effort. Then came the threats of cutting us off of the grid. After having more batteries installed, we had the grid disconnected this last May. The water well will be in by next week.
Let's see what they try to do next.
If you use wood stoves, check your local regulations. There is some monkey business going on there as well on the federal level. It may be time to update to a newer wood stove. The new ones act like a wood gasification unit burning off the excess methane ect reducing effluent output.
I expect Bidens EPA to start a "Rat out your neighbors" program this winter. Hand held meters and busy bodies will come out and visit to measure local air quality.
Something to think about if you don't live in the countryside.
