I almost always have my M9 close at hand.
Well that's not true!
When I am at home the M9 is at reach.
I have taken to carry a Ruger LC9.
With winter here and "cover" clothing worn, I might carry the M9 more, because I like the 15 round magazine instead of the 7 round.
I can't conceive ever needing more than 1 or 2 rounds, but I am getting older.
I can still put the first round from either of them into a playing card from 20 yards, so hitting the heart, an eye, or the throat with my first shot, doesn't compute, but it's been a long time since I had to shoot anyone and even longer since I have been shot at.
While I have other handguns in .45, 9MM and .38 super, that I like a lot, they spend there time in the gun safe, instead of my hand.
I will admit I had to "look-up" the combination, the last few times I wanted in the safe, and yes I have left instructions for what to do with the contents and how to access them with 3 people.
I still have a 870 pump shotgun behind the door (in 20 not 12) I still carry an 870 in 20, a AR 30 in 308 and a 10/22 breakdown in my truck box,(along with 4 pistols) I just don't drive my truck much. The WIFE asked me not to long ago "why" we were still paying insurance on a truck I never drive, all I could say was we still needed a truck every now and then. I think it was the early 90's, I gave my 87 truck to my son so we could take it off the insurance and he totaled it. He has a truck and a Tahoe, so I'll just keep a truck for now. The truck box is like the safe, I open it every now and then and am supersized what I find.
Like I said, I have many handguns I like that I like to carry, but I seem to always carry the M9 or the Ruger.
I have Wilson Combat Carry X-Tac Elite's in .45, 9MM and .38 Super, that are matched, they all look alike, that I bought when my dad died, I think at $3800. each, they shoot great, but I never shoot them, much less carry them. I have lots of different brands and makes, I like some more than others, but I always come back to carrying the M9 or the Ruger. I must have 20 different custom holsters, but I end-up with a belt minimal stripe type for the M9 or a Blackhalke inside the waistband for the Ruger. I have a shoulder holster I like for both, but I hardly ever wear any more. I should just sell off everything and buy an RV and travel around before I die.
