I miss all of you and your contributions. Although I frequent other forums, this still feels like home. CC mama has kept it open for now.
Our Thanksgiving plans with our girls and spouses fell apart when DD#1 got Covid (badly). 2nd time this year, 3 times in all "even though" (her words) she was completely vaxed and boosted.
Unfortunately for Christmas, DH got that really harsh cold going around. We had been kind of staying close to home as we were an integral part of my 92 yr old Mom's Christmas and DH's 89 yr old Mom's plans also. His Dad died last December so everything is still very raw. So we were just not going out as much for about 15 days so we could take care of them and parties.
SO all of Christmas was cancelled. Can't risk elderly or kids. DDs and spouses luckily had other plans and hopefully our original plans with them for a January Christmas will occur.
I truly think, as every and I mean every important event this year was cancelled, God is preparing us for lack of family and/or friends. We have gotten the message to prepare the the food, health, equipment, land, skills departments. None of it was under our or our friends or kids control. DD1's beautiful dog got cancer and had to be home and restrained by their presence and time for 6 weeks - there crashed our big family plans for an outing. Covid for DD1 killed Easter. Covid after running the Chicago marathon (so proud of her) by DD2 cancelled combined birthday plans of all of us. And on.
But doing without family and friends all year for really oddball or common reasons was just super odd, and hard. Made me appreciate online and other contacts as well as my DH!
Again Merry Christmas and you are prayed for every day.
