I understand that how things are will differ from a total SHTF issue but I am really gaining insight on how to handle many day to day things with having others here.

Phooey, Dink, you beat me to it! I was going to bring the pets too! OK, let's all go drop in on garret. ;D ;D ;D
[Not to worry... we'd only be there long enough to enjoy the look of sheer astonishment!] ;D

But remember Garret, Dink and Angelhelp are just like the government.. they're only there to help you (as long as you feed them, house them, clothe them, buy their beer, pop and cigarettes and have a 55'' TV they can watch cable tv on...oh and give up your big bedroom for comfort)

I am bringin my own food, a tent, clothes (aint goin anywhere naked!), don't drink, don't smoke, and he already sent me the movies to watch...so over all....he just has to get use to my chunky monkey self takin over the kitchen...and bathroom...and as far as pets go...I figured I would just bring my milk cow...fresh milk, butter & cheese...besides, she is house broken...sort of...she would break the house up pretty good if I bring her in I imagine! ;D I am SURE he won't mind an extended visit!

take over the kitchen and toilet, it wouldnt be hard in a 18'X7' caravan lol (although the lemon tree gets its fair share of watering) at least the dogs would have something to do rounding up all the animals (they are kelpie cattledogs) and that would make two chunky monkeys with us both in here Dink i think i will go hide in a cave ;D ;D

The pets consist of several very efficient mousers and a couple of avian alarm clocks. Like Dink, I too would've arrived with a tent & such. Also like Dink, I neither smoke nor drink. Hide the chocolate unless you want to watch me drool. I'd have been content just with the astonished expression. Rather than wear out my welcome, I'd arrive, whip out the tent, and wave it meaningfully in the direction of apparent habitation. Upon hearing anything resembling your aforementioned greetings, I'd mumble something that sounded like Bunker and turn loose the youngest mouser. That ought to keep the dogs busy until more formal greetings had taken place, and with the nicknames that youngest mouser has acquired, he deserves a little canine discipline. Rather than completely encroach, I'd wait until the canines herded the (ahem!) "errant" mouser in my direction. At some point, if I hadn't yet heard, "Go away!", I might be persuaded to actually set up the tent and stay for a short visit. Since I've yet to meet a dog that didn't like me, I'd inquire of the resident canines if they'd like to be petted and scratched. The felines would likely demand the same, and the avians would likely announce their opinions of all present. By now I'd have savored the look of astonishment, and I'd probably depart unless asked (or bribed with chocolate) to stay.

Nope. I'm not actually a big chocolate fan...or many sweets for thazt matter. I l;ike a good dessert, but in small moderation. Canning equipment, a working kitchen and a garden makes me a VERY happy woman!! ;D
