Mud's thread on how much do you carry got me to thinking about how we carry our stuff. Do you use belt pouches or hunting vests? I'm interested in seeing how people carry their equipment in hopes of finding ways I have not yet thought of.
So, how do you spread the load you carry into the bush besides carrying a pack?

I have two different types of vests I carry. One is military type issue with Molle places on several places. The other is a vest with 9 pockets on it and two inside pockets. I make sure both have several things similar to an EDC that could help me make it for awhile if that was all I was left with.

camera vest, bum bag (fanny pack) and backpack, the bum bag straps to the bottom of the backpack when not worn on its own, i also have a couple of small belt pouches with spare essentials in one and a mini medikit in the other, i also have a slingbag and a large waterproof gearbag that stay in the vehicle unless i am at basecamp, obviously they will stay behind if i have to bug out/home

Personally, I find cargo pockets useless for anything but very light items. Even my wallet in a cargo pocket creates an annoying pendulum effect when walking. Running causes anything in my cargo pockets to beat against my legs uncomfortably, also possibly damaging the pocketed item. In my pockets I EDC a small knife, cell phone, BIC lighter, keys with tiny light, S&W .380 Bodyguard and a wallet. I also wear a para-cord bracelet. That's about all I care to carry in my pockets because I start looking silly and getting uncomfortable carrying anything more. This is generally true while hiking or hunting as well. Maybe a compass and map will take the place of the car keys and wallet, but everything else goes in the pack. I have been through a few packs and now have an extremely comfortable one that defiantly makes a huge difference in carry feel. Suffice to say, there’s a big difference between the way different packs feel and carry. Getting a properly sized/designed pack and adjusting it properly to your body is important for hiking comfort.
