First let me say that I am usually a pretty good at finding deals when I gogrocery shopping. I find mark downs, I go early to get produce and meat marked down, when I do most of my shopping I try to go on Monday--- bread is marked down that day usually because they don't have someone to pick it up on Sundays---so it gets marked down. I save my fuel points at Kroger and when I have enough for .40-.50 off a gallon that's when I fill up the car most of the time. I use coupons --but only if they get me the better deal. I have learned alot about it. However, the last few months I have not noticed many deals. I don't know if other people are doing the same as me and the deals are just not there and when I do find meat marked down it is still not a great deal. So when my step son (who works at Kroger) called and said hey I have 20% off if you buy Kroger brands, I was thrilled. Most of the groceries I buy are Kroger brand anyway, with the exception of only a few items. I saved almost $60 with his discount. YAY ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) One of the best deals was the spices--they were already on sale at 40% off and with the discount I got 60% off!!!! ;D So I bought alot of spices. This made for a happy day ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Kroger is Fry's here in Arizona, and when our son worked there, I used his card and got those same terrific 20% discounts on Kroger brands. Now I use my own card and still get the points toward fuel savings but I hate their parking lot gas station setup, stupid clumsy one-way lanes and awkward routing of traffic.

The gas stations are set up the same way here. I don't like it either but if I can save .50 a gallon then I do it you just have to pick the right time to go---around here it's usually very early morning or late evening. Anytime between 8 am and 6 pm it is packed.

Good for you on making the deals of the day. It's so much fun finding them and keeping money in your pocket for another rainy day. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

1 week a month our local Schnucks has a triple coupon day. I don't shop there very often, but I like to use coupons and save when I can. I like to get a smooth dark roast coffee as a treat once in a while. The stuff I REALLY like is about $7 for a little 1# bag...needless to say, I generally only get it if I luck out. This time I lucked out!! I got a coupon for $1.50 off a bag and it was a triple coupon week, so I got $4.50 off, plus the coffee was on sale for $5.99...So I got my expensive treat for a whopping $1.49!!! Had a $5 coupon for a 20# bag of Jasmine rice (normally $17.99), used the triple coupon, picked up that 20# bag of rice for $2.99!!!You can bet I was happy dancing in the isle!!! ;D
I did that with assorted seasonings, condiments, oatmeal, cornmeal and a few other things. Nothing like clipping coupons during a good sale to make me happy!! Gotta save where we can! The only bad thing is, they do not advertise it, and it's never run like normal sales, you have to go in the store on a regular basis and watch for a TINY slip hanging on the wall next to the registers to know if they are having a triple coupon special or not. Might check your local stores and see if they have anything like that as well!

It's got to be 20 years since anyone tripled coupons around here. Airborne has the ability to keep a running spreadsheet in his head about what the different area supermarkets charge for what we normally would buy, what's a good sale price, and what all we need. He checks the flyers every week, mutters about the prices, and snips the applicable coupons, then goes out and does the shopping. The store nearest us closed a while ago and is reopening under a different name. There's something to be said for mileage-enhanced pricing. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) The local Costco has its own gas station; there aren't any accumulated points and you have to be a member to use the gas station. The lanes are one-way and returning to traffic is rather awkward.
