O.K.
So I flew my Mother-in-Law into town for Mother's Day to surprise my Wife, Tracey. I knew that the girl's would want to do 2 things. Go Shopping and Go to the Beach. I figured I had better pick me up a "Doomsday" themed paperback for the Beach, as these two don't allow the "knuckle draggers" a word in when they set themselves to some gossip.
So I picked up Dale Brown's "A Time for Patriots".
$8 bucks, Wallyworld.
I have never read this Author before. A quick look to the back cover confirmed that this just might be the Beachread I was searchin for.
A quick breakdown on the plot of the story. My words.
Set in the Desert West ansd Southwest.
Basically the US ecomony is in the outhouse.
Cutbacks have virtually done away with most any form of Law enforcement/Natl Guard.
Citizens have taken up arms, and formed group's to protect their neighborhoods.
Admist this, a Militia group begins to detonate radioactive "Dirt Bombs" in key area's where the goverment still has some kind of hold. Their goal is to do away with the last remaining Goverment and create a NWO on US soil.
A Civil Air Patrol group in Nevada is at the center of the story. A former Air Force General who is retired after winning WW3 for the USA heads up the group.
There is a Rich landowner in Nevada that is supporting the General in his quest to help his fellow country men. But is this Landbaron friend or foe?
Allright. My take on this Novel.
I only have 2 chapters to go, but I got to say unless your a pilot, I would AVOID this one.
The story is ripe with lingo and descriptions that really would only excite a Pilot or Pilot to be. The pages don't turn fast, and the Chapters are LARGE. All in All it's not a read I would suggest to anyone. Of couse unless you are "Pilot minded". In that case you would probally enjoy this momentary escape from reality.
Understand this is a pure fantasy read. So take this for what it's worth. I wish I had spent my $8 dollars else where.
Dale Brown is OFF my approved Author's list!
Oh and I think it's pretty cool I am the first thread in a section of a new Forum. Sorry for "tootin" my own horn. That just don't happin everyday.
