Looks like my "shop" at my old house, before I built a stand alone one. Shoot most of the folks I hung out with on the woodworking forums did it this way. I remember a couple of guys came up with some really cool deals with keeping the car in the garage and moving them out when they wanted to work. Jimmy

Sometimes I think of boxing in part of the underneath of my house to have a shed again. It has room to park two vehicles, has my backstairs under it, two hung swings, a patio with Jacuzzi and still plenty room to build one. Only drawback is if it floods the insurance company won't cover it. I have a 20x20 empty slab sitting pretty and doing nothing where my shed once stood. I miss it a lot.

Great article. This is exactly what the wife and I are doing. We just bought some needed power tools and built a rolling cart with fold out arms for the miter saw. We like the furniture we see in some stores but don't want to pay the prices. We're gonna build it instead. Check out ana-white.com/

Cool artical As a long time fan of Popular Mechanics, always had a thought of building a home shop. Problem is that my tastes run amuck many times, and so I move from woodworking, to metal working, to leather work, to servicing my "stuff".......so ended up with many "shops" in the garage/basement/ shed at The Place....and I do park vehicles and remove as needed.
I find that it's hard to make a lot of any one thing...so I tend to follow my interests at the time.
Note to DW....cleaning up YOUR area, and putting on MY work bench(s) is NOT cleaning up.....LOL
