Thought I would start a thread on books that deal with primitive or old time type of living. Not your typical survival Manuel's per se. One example would be the Foxfire books. A wealth of info on the old Appalachian life. I would suggest them to anyone. There are others that I will have to look up. Saw a couple in Tractor supply the other day. Can't seem to recall the titles, but they dealt with everything from blacksmithing to fencing to smoking meat.

I was happy to see our little town library has a good collection of the Foxfire books. I hear they are hard to come by.
I also just got "Wildwood" Wisdom". It's got a lot of How To stuff in it. It was first published in 1945. Just by looking it over it seems to cover a lot of good topics for primitive living conditions.

Both bookstores here carry the Foxfire books. If anyone wants them we can work something out. Will have to look for the wildwood wisdom book.

Someone I knew in college had the first 3 Foxfire books. I hadn't thought much about them in the intervening years, but the Back to Basics came out in a new edition, so I had to acquire that new one for #2 son who wore out the old copy reading it so much.

Great idea swamprat1. Besides my fire fox books here are a few more I like.
