Hot Livestock

We are looking at 90 temps again so it is a good time to remind everyone about DINKs idea to keep your livestock cool. Putting 2 liter bottles of water into the freezer and putting the frozen bottles into you chicken/rabbit/quail/whatever pens to give them some heat relief.

I used that idea whenever I had to transport a cat in the summer, especially when driving a car that lacked airconditioning. Back in those days, I used salvaged juice containers and some glass jars cushioned from each other with dish towels.
