Pretty neat. I don't believe I have heard of Fat Wood before, but looks like useful stuff.

I just love fat wood to start a fire. If you do not have it in your area check the Walmart they usually have it in the section with the premade fire logs.

Good lookin batch! Gettin harder ta find round here. Pine tree's aint as plentifull as they used ta be. Everbody digs em up before they get the chance ta puddle.
Watch some a the stuff ya buy in the store. Not all a it be real fat wood. Some be man made. I've seen it at the big box lumber yards, bag says "real fatwood, no chemicals added".

My n ext trip south, I am spose to pick up a few 5 gallon buckets worth of it already split and worked into pieces. Moms ole man found several stumps on their place, and after I asked for a few sticks...he got me the motherload!! I am thinkin of sharin when I finally get it home.

As a side note, your lighter was formed by a survivalable lighing strike or some other sort of injury to the tree. Lightered forms naturally from the heart. I see bark on yours, plus the heart, which is as concentrated as at the bark. You said it was a line of sorts. The tree will natrually have good resin at an injury. That was a great find for sure.
