Me and the kids built this tonight. Since we have some more rain coming tonight I thought why not use it for a learning op? Lydia was tickled when I showed her how to tie off using a small stone wrapped in the nylon. It was her idea to use the fryer bucket and we jerry rigged some 550 to get it taught. Ian was mostly fascinated by the "green string". Here's how it came out: Tomorrow we will measure how much we captured!

Outstanding!
Don't know how many times I have used the rock trick when I wanted/needed a tie off where there wasn't one.
But I will tell you before you try it, don't use it in a tarp when you are driving down the road, like to beat the back of the truck to death.

Filled the bucket and then some. Pure, high quality H2O! Well over 5 gallons. I had a lesson with Lyd today about water and how precious it is and how there is at least 5-6 ways to get potable water.

Good lessons for sure. Teach them how to find it, collect it, treat it and protect it and and they will be miles ahead of the idiots they will have to deal with later in life.

Now take that bucket of water add a cup of salt and mix it well, asked them to taste it.
Then show them how to distil that same water and drink it again.
Good lessons, good skills
