What I am thinking about with this post, is someone will post a replay saying
“GO”
it starts a new EDC check/game. Anyone who wants to “play” can report a score based on what they have on them at the time.
example for points to report
Not a help or a loss = zero
Not of any use = 0 (unless it adds weight/bulk then it’s a minus
Useful item = 1
So, as an example
I am wearing: +2
Tennis shoes, with socks, short cargo pants with belt and in a tee shirt.
Shoes, tee shirt and shorts get a null value or 3 0’s
Socks and belt get a 1 or = +2
In the pants pockets is: +2
a small folding knife 1, cord 1, pruning shears 0 = +2
On the belt is : +3
a holster with a .380 with 11 rounds = +1
a pouch with a cat hole folding shovel = 0
a pouch with a multi-tool and a large folding knife = +2
don’t have but needed: -2
water (1 or 0), epi-pen(a must have) = -2
So, with what is listed my score is 7 – 2 = 5 (report as have – should have)
But, I suspect my must have/needs list may be short for a generic/common list
So, I am proposing we work up a “COMMON/GENERIC EDC” list to post as a “MASTER LIST”, with everything the “players” think should be on the list.
So an individual can look at the list and count any item they don’t need as a zero, or where if I considered it as a need it would be a one for me, items like my EPI-Pen will fit a “GENERIC LIST” if they are considered as a FAK and/or “must have meds”
My thought is once we have a “MASTER COMMON EDC LIST” to work from we start playing and someone periodically posts “GO”.
my start on a master list NEEDS YOUR INPUT
MUST HAVE ON YOU:
1 (MEDS LIKE EPI-PEN)
2
SHOULD HAVE ON YOU:
1
2
3
?? ON YOU:
1
2
But, you say, once someone gets a list for them with all ones they will start carrying those items so they get a good score each time. Isn’t that the point? The players, who want a better score are now carrying their needed items by habit and that is the whole point of the exercise IMHO.
SO, what do you think?
