I was going through preps to cache in my truck when I came across these. I looked at the expiration dates and chose the oldest. For future reference I'll post todays date of November 3, 2015 and the expiration date of the lightstick was August 2008. Out of curiosity I opened it and it's still lighting up. Not knowing how bright the light was when it was new, I went in my closet and closed the door. It didn't emit brightness, however I was able to hold it up and recognize items on shelves and if I had items on the floor it would give me enough light to not trip on anything. Too, if I held the stick next to a box I was able to read the fine print on it. I'm sure if I needed it to be found in the woods at night by rescue teams, it still would be seen whirling over my head on a string. Add On: I'll see how long it stays lit and add it to this post. When I woke up this morning at 6 a.m. on Nov. 4, 2015, the lightstick was still blue. I was gonna go back in the closet to compare what I was able to see today but during my shower the stick went out. Still, from 4p.m. yesterday to 6 a.m. this morning is a long time to stay lit, way past it's stated 8 hours. Maybe I'll try another later to finish this little experiment.

So what you're really saying is you're coming out of the closet. After all this time? Who knew?

Well you went into the closet, I assume you're coming out. Or are you posting from inside by the glow of your 'blue' light special.

For science she has to stay inside until total blackness prevails.

For those truly interested in an update about the lightstick, I have posted it on the first post. To the stooges who insist on highjacking my thread, ..............fill in the blanks.

Do you think you coming out of the closet and going into the shower had an adverse effect on the light and made it go out? It just seems odd that it would go out while you were in the shower. I think there is a correlation there someplace; on when you go into the closet, off when you go into the shower. Maybe if you went BACK into the closet it would turn on again. On the other hand 14 hours is a long time to be turned on.

No, we don't need a full moon cause they're hiding in their closets under a blue light. Lol
PS. I wish I could post emoticons on here from the mobile app. But I can't. So CL I'm just poking fun

Try a new one for comparison. Maybe we could all try different brands to see which is best? Dibs on WM.

Try a new one for comparison. Maybe we could all try different brands to see which is best? Dibs on WM. But, could this cause more people to come out of the closet? It's possible. I think the review to see if it was because of the blue light is reasonable. Maybe green or red light sticks cause different reactions. If CLs older light stick stayed turned on for 14 hrs who knows how long a fresh one will stay turned on. I can see the headline now in the lgbt community 'coming out of the closet with a blue light stick, stays turned on for 14 hours'. It's miraculous. I'll buy some today but I think I'll just wait until dark and stay out of the closet. Note to Okie: you can't freakin call dibs on WM when that's the only store in town. Geez. Oh and here's a tip for you. Don't buy the battery operated light stick, it'll skew the results.
