Spent part of the day on Sunday with my DD and her little friend. They wanted to play "surviving" so I indulged. How could I not! We build a small lean to debris shelter in the back yard. The only tool we really used was my Trailhawk tommy. I helped them find poles, cut down some cedar branches, and gathered leaves up for insulation and to pack on top of the shelter. I downsized it a little just for the kids. We then went in search of water down by the tiny creek behind my house in the woods. I then showed then how to build a fire with cedar shavings and a ferrule rod sparker. It was good exercise for them and daddy! I don't know how much the USCGME2 Survival School they retained but, we had fun doing it! At least I did. LOL. It was a school night so no one actually spent the night in it. Ian had some fun playing hide and seek in it too.

Sounds like a great time, I'm surprised you could keep Spider-Man from climbing the trees

Sometimes its less about the lesson and more about the time. Neither of them will forget the latter.

It appears they had so much fun. I'm sure they'll be asking you to teach them more. Great job teaching them and spending precious time with them.
