Not all of our urgent situations are collapsed grid societal breakdown events. A lot of prep sites (sometimes us) talk about our BOBs GHBs or our WSB,s (Walmart Shopping Bag lol ) in terms of apocalyptic grid down 1860 pioneer hardscrabble living. Most scenarios I have witnessed or been party to there is always been at least some partial grid or full grid just outside ground zero. Even at Katrina, we went to Baton Rouge for a day and they were virtually unscathed. A little money was handy that day.... Barring actual zombie-EMP-nuke SHTF, several of my preps include just having day to day stuff on hand. I do have my zombie BOB packed and ready to go. It has some nice gear and replacing it would be a big $$$ set back for me. Therefore, it stays at home secure most of the time. Honestly, most of those things wont get used day to day anyhow. This weekend I decided Ill put together an actual light EDC/GHB with things of practical use for situations while I still have grid (maybe), there is still ROL, and money still is practical. Ive actually been putting this project off for awhile. So, what do you guys carry around day to day for a grid still up, or grid up near by times? Stash in the trunk of the car? Keep in your purse? Keep on hand for that cold night, battery is dead, car wont start, cant get over the bridge till morning kind of situations? I have a pretty solid pack list going and just wanted to start an idea swap with greater minds than myself. PS; Thywar- I am NOT packing an RG and thats that!

It is my opinion that most of the people who have ghb, are still going to be caught flat-footed when it happens. Folks don't pay enough attention to utilizing what's around them. Since its impossible to have every contingency covered, the bag of gear will be found wanting.

My purse is packed. Bic lighter, firesteel & scraper, Fresnel lens, scissors, knife, tissues, hand sanitizer, meds, small leatherman, tweezers, foil, mirror, Ziploc bags of various sizes, twine, chap stick and gorilla tape. If I'm stranded in a building and can't get to my truck I have these items to help me survive.
Of course I have items in my truck but hopefully I'm not on the road at night unless it's an absolute emergency.

I keep a day ruck in each vehicle. Mostly filled identical. One is smaller but still doable. In one vehicle I keep two boxes in addition to. Because that's the vehicle I drive most. Couldn't carry all that stuff but I could pick and choose to get me home depending on time of year and circumstance.

Sounds like my mom's purse i dont know if it was the tissues or the turpentine in her spit but, she could take permanent marker off my face with it. And with a finger nail she could scrape rust off iron. Lol. The way I am setting this thing up its not going to be a stand alone bag inviolate. Its going to be used daily. OK, ok. It will be a man purse only in the form of a Fish Pond back pack.

"Sounds like my mom's purse". LoL I've heard that before. I was at Lowe's with my niece and she says she wishes she had a tape measure which I pulled from my purse. Same niece told my mom she had a burnt fuse in her fuse box, my mom took one out of her purse. My friend told his brother-in-law to go in the shed to get a piece of soap stone, I said don't bother and pulled a stick of it from my back pocket. Most items I carry are flat, fold up etc. and are very lightweight.

It's weird this subject came up. Do to new laws here in Mississippi, my EDC just took a fairly large step.
I have always had Bics, several knives, flashlight, cordage and a Leatherman on me. Only time not was nite nite time.
In Mississippi it now legal to carry concealed in your briefcase, backpack, purse or anything you sling over your shoulder or around your arm. Considered an extention of your house.
Yep, call it what you want. I'm carrying a new Fox tactical bag. It is a slimed down version of a GHB. A days rations of food and drink. Cordage. A nice little FAK. Two forms of light. Three forms of firemaking. A couple of decent cutting tools. And my Springfield XD Compact .40 and 3 spare mags. 8 lbs. I love it.

Jimmy you just reminded me of something. I also have two flashlights, paper and pen and pepper spray in my purse.
I believe it's great you can now carry concealed in those items mentioned which are considered an extension of your home. In time I can see when no one will need to apply for a CCL, let's face it thugs don't bother applying for one to commit crimes so why should we need one to protect ourselves.
