Today I spent about 6 hours in the woods learning how to make and set a spring snare. Wow I can't believe how much time it took to find and cut each piece, then put it all together. I'm glad I did, now I know how to make and set a spring snare. It took a lot of work a lot more then I thought but at least I took that very important first step.

Looks like a good location for a squirrel snare. They are much easier to set.
Good on you for the practice and for making it clear how consuming it was. Ideas in our heads can't replace "dirt time".

Truth be told that's a great idea,rats are very intelligent and if you can consistently catch rats your way ahead of the game.
