Here is another item I use and recommend where the now price is lower than the price when I bought my last ones.

The Waterbrick 10 pack
waterbrick.org/product.php?productid=18
singles
waterbrick.org/product.php?productid=18
These hold 3 ½ gallons of water, seal good and are stackable
In fact I have a low wall of these stacked behind a row of sand bags, then a row of cement blocks, then a row of these full of water in kind of a foxhole type defense position. The wall will stop a 7.62 x 39. I have water and rice in the wall so I have food and water and protection.

We take one out in the boat so we have 3 ½ gallons of fresh water. We leave the lid off and put one in the deep freeze a few days before we go. Then it melts slowly and you have cold fresh water on the boat.
They will hold 25# of rice, beans or sugar and store in a nice neat stack
They had a food type brick when I bought mine but not as good as the ones they offer now
waterbrick.org/product.php?productid=21
the same concept and have handles just like the waterbrick, just easier to get food into and out of.
The price for one is $5 cheaper right now, same for the lots of 10, the site also offers 5 of each as a package.
I do not like the spout idea for the waterbricks
waterbrick.org/product.php?productid=32
it interferes with stacking configurations, leaks and only works to get water out of ½ of the brick without tipping. Still I have a couple as in the fighting hole example I can get to water without un stacking the wall.
I have not tried their ammo brick, but might soon.
They also have ½ brick sizes that stack just the same with the full size.
waterbrick.org/trombe-wall.php
why the hole in the middle?
Strength, a better way to tie down on a truck or boat, drive a piece of rebar through the holes when cross stacking for a more stable/higher wall/stack, run wire/pipe through
or thywar could build his house
