My daily is 1 b complex, 1 calcium, magnesium pill, one d complex. The D is supposed to help your body deal with pain on it's own. Went from 8 years on scripted drugs to OTC ones a couple times per week. Also I use a Total Gym to help keep the joints strong and limber. Yoga and Tai Chi alternated.
My doc and the wife's dentist agree that during severe issues, taking 2 tylenol and 2 IBP at the same time has the same effect as hydrocodone without the loopy issues and other side effects.

So if anyone would care to share their experiences of surgeries whether it's for the back, knees or shoulders which were age related, I'd like to hear if you're glad you had the surgery cuz you feel less pain.

I'll tell ya CWI you opened up a grand discussion.
I like most others I've read here have some or most of the issues. 62 next month don't help, but I try my best to not think about it as a restriction.
My main issue is of course 1 lung. It pretty much cuts out all cardiovascular exercise. But have been working to solve some of it.
During chemo, I gained over 65 lbs in just 4 months. Steroids. Had 3 different ones every 3 weeks for 4 months. I got them for various reasons. Nausea, try to keep the ability to keep moving and help joint problems that the Platinum based chemo can cause. My weight of 275 was already 80+ of what it should have been. Add 65 more, well you get the idea. Lard ass at 330. I had been at 265-275 for 10-12 years and did ok. It made climbing a bit tougher but doable. Carrying all that extra taxed the hell out of that 1 lung.
I can report now after 2+ years at 223 (as of this morning) that 1 lung has a bunch less to work for. Things are a lot easier, not perfect but better. BTW portion control only.
Let me report this as the biggie. Type II diabetes is gone. 6.1 a1c from as high as 10.2 at times. Means no meds for that. BP Avg 130/75. No more BP meds. Cholesterol down to 170. No more Lipitor. I only take vitamins and supplements only. BTW D3 taken with magnesium helps a slew of things. D3 not D2 BTW.
Now be careful with the ibuprofen, especially over 60 years old. I currently have the ulcer to prove it. My ibuprofen is a miracle pain drug and anti-inflammatory but it does have its drawbacks.
I'm working out with dumbbells to start with. Expanded my walking ritual. Not as much as I want, we gotta start somewhere... started mowing my grass with a push mower instead of hiring a friend of mine to cut it with his big rider. Trust me touch over one acre cut with a 20-inch push mower will get your walking in every couple of weeks in addition to normal walking exercise.
Now I'm sure I got way off the OP, just sound like a good opportunity to share.
Your mileage may vary.....lol

Hey Missasip.....everyone here knows I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon and parrot sentiments, but DAMN brother I'll echo CL. THAT is impressive.
As for everyone else, well......."I feel ya". The past year has been rough both emotionally and physically. Left knee is looking at replacement (hobbling so badly now that a visiting nurse friend is making thinly veiled references to amputations!), surgery on R foot which did no good; two shoulder surgeries. After some introspection I've determined that I'm getting older!!
And the "getting old isn't for wimps" bell has never rung more clearly, couldn't agree more.

Well I'm looking at 63 in a few months. So far my complaints are my right knee and lower back pain. Having had the orthoscopic surgery and hearing there is no cartilage left in the knee joint sounds grim yet I feel better off than most I'm reading about. As to surgery on the back, I'll have to be dead first for anyone to touch it and then I won't care what they do to it. I've never heard of anyone having back surgery and feeling 100% better for having it done. Everyone tells me they feel worse with more pain and regret having it done.
For now weight is a big issue and keeps me on meds I'd prefer being off of. I had my heart and lungs checked before surgery and those checked out minus the scare of my heart rate going up a bit for a first time in my life. Will follow that issue up with my cardiologist in about two weeks.
My pulmonologist is so stoked about my latest tests since my bout with pneumonia, he's giving me another month without using inhalers to see how well I cope and just keep my purse sized inhaler for emergencies. So, that will be three meds I'm getting off of all of which contain steroids.

You're not getting older my friend, you're just slowing down a tad and seeking other outlets. Thoughts and prayers for you and God Bless!

Knee replacements have come a LOOOOOOONG way... My mother has had them both done and she is 100% mobile now and pain free... Do your homework and make sure you trust the doc and the brand of replacement. I would suggest you do the knee thing....

You would have to ask the doc what style/brand he is using... that is part of the homework... there is almost always more then one manufacturer of anything and replacement body parts are no exception. Like most thing, all are not created equal....

I couldn't get the Cadillac replacement lens' that would allow me to not wear my eyeglasses. I had to get the "Medicare Specials".
