Reading the report reminded me of something I forgot to post before
If you are going to carry +P or ++P or hollow points over solid, 124 instead of 115, etc.
Then you need to practice with that round
Most people I know will practice with the cheapest ammo they have, then carry the most expensive
Try it some time, shoot five rounds with the ammo you practice the most with, then use the same aim point and shoot five rounds with the ammo you carry
you will see what I mean
I am not saying all of your practice needs to be with the expensive rounds, just that you need to shoot enough of them that you can make an adjustment when needed
two
buy some freezer paper and draw a man sized torso on it and use that for a target, if you get used to shooting bulls eyes the first thing you will look for is a red circle
and shoot some at 50 yards, The FBI practices at 7/15/25 then tries to shoot at 40 - 70.
three
stop practicing with your body set and head on to the target, move around pull and fire while walking side ways or backward and off balance,
four
get someone to distract you while you are shooting, I shoot a gun off behind someone while they are concentrating on the target, I shoot my guys with a paint gun while they are on the line, use caution in this as a distracted shooter can send a round the wrong way. Case in point the boy shot by his Father recently when a hot case went down his shirt
five
practice practice practice there is no substitute for muscle memory and shot placement
