Just bought this Center Point laser boresighter today, took it out to see how it worked. I am not impressed at all, for 40$ it should have done a better job. It comes with adapters to fit .17 Cal all the way up to the . 50 Cal plus 12, 16, and 20 gauge shotguns. Choose the correct adopter for the gun your using and screw it onto the bore sighter. Now place the boresighter into the barrel and tighten. But not to tight or you will have trouble getting the adapter back out, like I did During daylight it's only good for 25 yards in low light or at night it's good to 100 yards. It did what it said, got me close enough to the bullseye that I didn't waste ammo. That being said I would not endorse this product.

Sorry it didn't end up being better. Range time is the best and as far as I know the only sure thing.

This one will "get you on the paper." I imagine that's about all any of them will do. To me that's the whole point of the bore sight. . . Just get you close. Because they are temporarily mounted and the laser itself has to be, at some point, adjusted to zero (at the factory??) It's really a hit or miss situation. JMO

They do have a laser boresighter built into a shell, just load it like you would live ammo. Seems to me that this would do a better job. But I have no idea how good it works.

If you have a bolt action rifle and a keen eye you can take the bolt out and look down the barrel then adjust your scope. But you still have to fine tune it with live ammo.

I am glad mine did not cost $40. It still works just the same as yours. Okay, but not good.

I have a cheapo from Sportsmans Guide, about the same money. My only complaint is that it is too big to fit a .204 Ruger and a .17. It does get it on the paper, and works about the same as sighting down the bore on a bolt action or SS.....which I used to do. After paying like $25 bucks for a scope mount and bore sight job at what we have left for gunsmiths anymore.....Pays for it self, in my book. I like mine and will continue to use it....It's not here at the moment as it got borrowed.

I would need too many different ones,........ LOL These are handy little tools, and saves me some ammo, more or less.... but nothing beats just plain shooting it to see what's going on.

Bought it from CTD for my DPMS about 1-2 years ago. Can't say I have any complaints about it other than it turns on as soon as you tighten the battery cap. There is no on/off switch. This is it below: www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/SCP-230
