Only owned one 22 mag. Marlin bolt, magazine fed, 4x12x40 something or other scope. It was a shooter for sure.
Keep us up on your friends gun.

I had a 22 WMR over 20 ga., a pump and lever Henry all with open sites(before the circus monkeys stole them) but never a bolt action 22 mag.
I feel like the bolt guns shoot "harder" wonder if there is any data on that?

The nice part is they are inexpensive and readily available. Unlike mag ammo at least here. If they came wood or laminate I would get one. Probably will anyway. Can't have too many. Can ya?

guns are cheaper cause no one wants to but them, so why are rds .27 a round but w 20" of penetration and keeps the same energy as a .17HMR but falls off on distance and .17 HMR is .195 a rd. BUT .... the Ruger 17 HMR bolt gun is $685 not $329 chuck hawks says go with the 17hmr www.chuckhawks.com/index2l_rimfire.htmnever had or even shot a 17HMR as far as I can remember, Wife's Father has one he likes real well

I have had the 17hmr for a few years and paid nowhere near the 500.00+ price, in fact I paid less than the 349. Love the gun....so much that I bought the .22lr version which is still my most accurate .22
